Ilse Katz Institute for Meso- and Nanoscale Science and Technology

Ben Gurion University of the Negev is one of Israel’s leading universities in many groundbreaking global research fields.
This building is used for research in the fields of nanotechnology, chemistry and electro-optics and contains a research library, clean rooms, a university microscopy center, offices, seminar rooms and auditorium.
Complex electromechanical systems have been installed in the building as well as special dedicated systems for research in the field of nanotechnology such as active and passive corrosion and vibration systems, systems to neutralize and eliminate electromagnetic fields and radio wave radiation, high cleanliness gas systems including hazardous gases and more.
The building was constructed using the fast track method in the framework of which the excavation and shoring works were executed with one contractor, the framing and envelope works through four [other] contractors and the finish and utilities works through dozens of contractors and suppliers, all under Tafnit’s management.
